An Open Letter from Dawn Foote on International Women's Day 2026

DAWN FOOTE INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

Sunday 8th March 2026 marks International Women's Day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and this year's theme, #GivetoGain. With this in mind, our Co-Founder, Dawn Foote, has written an open letter to women, giving actionable advice to those who aspire to partake in the leisure and attractions industry.

Be courageous and back yourself — even before you feel completely ready. Confidence often grows through action, not before it.

Stay curious and say yes to opportunities that stretch you. The themed entertainment and creative industries are built on collaboration, so build relationships, ask questions, and learn from the incredible talent around you.

Don’t be afraid to take up space at the table — your perspective is valuable.

Seek out mentors and communities through organisations like the Themed Entertainment Association and IAAPA. These networks can open doors, provide support, and remind you that you’re not navigating your journey alone.

Most importantly, stay anchored to your values. This industry has the power to create joy, connection and lasting memories for families around the world. When you combine creativity with purpose, you can build a career that is not only successful, but deeply meaningful.
