Pirate Cove
Katapult
We have designed a concept for a new, themed land and integrated hotel that is inspired by pirate voyages. Guests are invited to step into the world of Captain Embers- a world in which a rag-tag crew have constructed a makeshift port- guests play their way across a series of attractions, experiences and interactives to join The Pirate League.
"This is our chance to show how much design thinking we put into theme park masterplans, while keeping our live projects confidential."

Insights
Our insights team identified three key audience themes that could form the basis of a revitalised Pirate-themed theme park. Nature as a form of restoration, the desire for 'unexpected' magic, and guests wanting more human touch. 22 million people globally are still seeking pirate content every year, and are intrigued by their lifestyle of "Exploring new lands" and "Feasting".
Design
Pirate Cove provides playful escapism through guest-led pirate adventures. It is an explorable, playable, themed Pirate land, with integrated hotel and attractions that rewards curiosity, ingenuity and play. The masterplan is inspired by our original story. In 1654, Captain Embers and his motley crew stumbled across an abandoned island (it was hidden under an ink blot on their map). The crew claimed it for themselves and all who sail under a black flag.
As with every masterplan we create, we start with 'The Why'. Armed with the market and audience insights, our team begins by defining the north star for the project. What follows is a deepdive into the theme, narrative, layout and attractions mix ideas.
As with every great element of a thematic environment, our designers are prepared to fail-fast, iterate, then deliver truly awe-inspiring visuals. From giant sculptural entrances, to the nuances of themed trash bins, we will deliver wow. We create design packs with dimensioned plans, colours, elevations and diagrams of themed elements to fully capture the creative intent.
