Viking Voyage
Emerald Park
We were appointed by Fáilte Ireland and Emerald Park to create the Viking Voyage - The Park queue line experience. We were tasked with telling the story of Ireland’s Ancient East in a family-friendly but historically accurate way; with plenty of story interaction and a way for visitors to immerse themselves in the Viking past.
We created the narrative, concepts, media content, and full designs for the queue line. We also project managed the production and installation of all theming, props, high-tech interactives (including animatronics, AV, mist projections and AR screens) as well as the low-tech games and activities.
“The new level of theming will add so much more to the guest experience at our park.”

Design
Working alongside the Emerald Park team, and national tourism development authority Fáilte Ireland, we began to create an immersive queue line experience with mini destinations. We started by creating a queue line narrative that tells the backstory of the vicious Vikings and their attempts to invade Ireland, the same story that inspired the log flume ride, to put guests at the heart of the story.
Throughout the queue line, we began to create mini experiences to entertain guests and build drama ahead of their journey as a 'Viking' log flume. An apparition of Viking God using a mist projection, was created at the start of the queue line to welcome guests on the journey to Ireland. We created a bespoke augmented reality (AR) experience which was activated through two interactive screens. Guests were able to ‘Viking’ themselves, with their friends and family, and see what they look like with traditional Viking dress.
Creative production
We also worked alongside vendors to bring animatronic ravens, photo opportunity area, theming and interactive games to the queue line. Low-tech interactions were also used to drive engagement and excitement, including musical instruments. We also worked on theming the mid-queue food and beverage area (F&B) to align the shop to the narrative and help increase sales too.
