Katapult adds a festive touch to City Centre Christmas Experience

Katapult has once again teamed up with local authorities in Derby, to create a city centre Christmas Experience – featuring a festive market and Elf trail.

Earlier in the year, we worked alongside the Derby Recovery Task Force, a public/private partnership group, to create Derby Market Place – an outdoor seating area to support the local hospitality industry and instill consumer confidence.

After the successful development of the Derby Market Place venue and brand, we were tasked by Derby City Council and Derby LIVE with creating a Christmas season campaign, called Festive Derby, to encourage guests to visit again this winter.

Work had already begun on transforming the outdoor seating venue into a Christmas market, and now a brand identity and theme was required to connect all the seasonal events from around the city and bring festive cheer.

We worked on the brand development, brand guidelines, tone of voice and theming for the reimagined Market Place. This included the venue’s hoardings, social distancing signage, wayfinding and other marketing collateral.

We also helped create an Elf trail around the city centre, creating child-friendly signs and positioned them across the city to draw guests to and from the prominent retail destinations around the Market Place.

The opening weekend saw the Derby Market Place visited by over 2,500 guests per day to the Covid-secure venue, which allowed up to 350 guests in at a time. Local and independent retailers have described the experience as being “phenomenal” for both trade, safety and bringing a festive cheer to Derby.

Once again, we are really proud to work with the city on our doorstep to create experiences that amaze and engage their guests.

Christmas at Twycross Zoo

We’ve also had the pleasure of working with award-winning conservation charity and UK attraction, Twycross Zoo, to create a festive Christmas experience this year. Take a look at the project >
